  • Discover the fairytale magic of Denmark through landmark attractions in Copenhagen before traveling outside the capital to explore Egeskov Castle, cosmopolitan Odense and the fishing village of Dragør.

    DAY 1

After flying into Copenhagen, you will be met and transferred by private vehicle from the airport to your hotel. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

Previously the city’s main post office, the Villa Copenhagen Hotel sits right next to Tivoli Gardens and is filled with Scandinavian contemporary art. During your stay you might choose to enjoy the roof-top outdoor, heated lap pool and bar and don’t miss the on-site bakery serving fresh bread, traditional treats and coffee to locals and guests alike.

Welcome Desk depending on number of guests booked

Note: A private van or SUV will be used to transfer couples or parties of two between the airport and the hotel. Vans hold a maximum of four pieces of large luggage (total) plus one carry-on sized bag per person. A sedan will be used for solo guests, which can hold 2 large suitcases and a carry-on. If you will have more luggage, a larger vehicle may be required for additional cost. Please advise your booking agent at least 14 days before sailing if a larger vehicle is required. Transfers are with driver only.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, start the day with a unique visit to the ByBi honey factory and learn about all the work they are doing with bees in and around Copenhagen. They encourage residents to follow their model and become beekeepers to cultivate a regenerative system where bees, flowers and humans thrive. You will learn about their efforts while touring the factory. Sampling honey produced in different parts of Copenhagen will clearly demonstrate how the tastes vary by location and environmental factors.

A hands-on cooking class follows, during which you will learn to make smørrebrød, a traditional Danish open-faced sandwich. This national dish is more complex than it may sound, as there is a whole culture around how to make and eat one of these layered rye bread sandwiches, which you will have for lunch.

Canals are abundant in Copenhagen and there’s no better way to see Denmark’s capital than by cruising the waterways after lunch. Along the way, you will see some of the city’s stunning architecture, which the guide will describe in detail. You will also notice the many urban parks and green spaces, which provide a natural habitat for birds and bees, especially honeybees.

Next take a peek at the theatrical side of Copenhagen on an insider’s tour of the Danish Royal Theatre. Its architectural elements are extraordinary, particularly the ceiling paintings, so be sure to look up. You will also see what goes on behind the scenes as you explore the backstage and the rooms where the theatrical costumes are created. Peering into Queen Margrethe’s private salon will be among the highlights.

Return to your hotel where the remainder of the day and evening are at your leisure. Dinner is on your own.

Note: Should the Royal Danish Theatre not be available, it will be substituted with a visit with either a Copenhagen Opera House and Royal Playhouse tour or a visit to the DAC (The Danish Architectural Center).

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will venture into the outskirts to explore the island of Funen, home to the Renaissance-era Egeskov Castle. Although a noble family lives in the castle, they open it to the public during the day. As you meander through the elegant interior, you may view the banquet hall, the music room and the Victorian room, whose furnishings reflect the family’s heritage.

The castle grounds are just as magnificent as you will discover while walking through the park-like gardens. The castle parks at Fredensborg and Frederiksborg, as well as those of Versailles, inspired the nearly 300-year-old garden design. Hedges, some as high as 25 feet, separate the various themed gardens.

Continuing on, you will head to Odense for lunch before exploring the city. As an introduction to its allure, you will visit the home of famed author Hans Christian Andersen, who was born in Odense. You can expect it to be a fascinating journey into his creative universe and beloved fairy tales such as “The Little Mermaid” and The Ugly Duckling.” By the end of the tour, you will have gained a much deeper understanding of the author and what inspired his creativity.

Although Odense is synonymous with Andersen, you will discover its other charms during free time. The downtown invites walking and there are plenty of shops and attractions worth a look.

After your independent exploration of Odense, you will return to your hotel. The remainder of the evening will be at leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, you will visit the fishing village of Dragør, which was founded in the 12th century as a garden area that grew produce for the royal family. Over time, herring fishing and processing became a more important enterprise. While walking through the narrow, pedestrian-only streets, you will see dozens of well-preserved buildings from the 18th and 119th centuries.

Around midday, you will transfer to the port to embark on your cruise.

  • Discover Sweden’s past and present through the beauty and history of Sweden’s castles. Located deep within endless nature or in the middle of sprawling cities; castles and palaces make up some of the many treasures to be found in Sweden. Each has its own exciting story to tell and gives you an insight into how Sweden has evolved over the centuries to become the place it is today.

Note: This program is not recommended for guests who require use of a wheelchair as some of the sites are not deemed accessible. This program involves walking in old towns that may have cobbled or uneven streets or pathways.

    DAY 1

After disembarking your ship in Stockholm, you will be greeted at the cruise terminal and begin your program with a guided tour of City Hall where you can admire the Golden Hall. This visit is followed by a guided walk in the Old City.

Next, depart for Mariefred where you will savor lunch at a local lakeside restaurant before continuing for a visit of Gripsholm Castle. Home to five hundred years of history, Gripsholm Castle was built in the 16th century at the initiative of King Gustav Vasa. Here you will see several well-preserved rooms from that era, the most famous being Duke Karl's Chamber.

Continue driving towards Örebro where you will check in for the night.

The evening at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and start your day with a guided historical tour of the city as well as a visit to Örebro Castle which was built in the 13th century as a defense tower. The castle was then later expanded during the reign of the House of Vasa in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 1900’s to what is its current form.

Proceed to Wadköping, a lovely Swedish village and open-air museum located on the banks of the River Svartån. With its wooden buildings and courtyards, this museum gives guests an idea of what Örebro's buildings and city environment used to look like. Wadköping has been located here since its opening in 1965 and comprises buildings and courtyards moved there from central Örebro.

After lunch, return to Stockholm, making a stop for a typical Swedish coffee-break called ‘Fika’ along the way.

Upon arrival in Stockholm, check in to your hotel. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own

    Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and proceed to Skokloster Castle, one of the world’s best preserved baroque castles, located on the Sko Peninsula beside Lake Mälaren. It is now a museum with a collection of art, weapons, books and textiles that are unique of their kind, both in Sweden and internationally, and you can see them through the exhibition and guided tour of the castle.

Sweden's oldest town Sigtuna is located nearby. Founded in AD 980 by Erik the Victorious, Sigtuna boasts a remarkably well-preserved main street, Stora Gatan, which still runs along its original route. The town's Viking heritage is everywhere to be seen and in fact, Sigtuna is the most runestone rich destination in the world making it a unique place to see Viking-era artifacts.

Here you will see the ruins of three churches - St. Peter’s, St. Lawrence’s, and St. Olaf’s. Also see the 18th century Stora Torget square, Sigtuna Town Hall, the smallest town hall in Sweden and perhaps even in Europe and finally the 13th century St. Mary's Church which was built by the Dominican order as a convent church.

Note: For operational reasons, the previously scheduled Mamma Mia The Party! dinner and show has been replaced with the below:

After lunch return to Stockholm where you will have some time to recoup before your evening activities, Swedish style! At the designated time, gather in the lobby and depart as a group for Hasselbacken Restaurant, a historical venue that dates back to the 18th century. After a traditional Swedish dinner, there is a short walk to the Abba Museum which will be open exclusively for our group for an after-hours visit with a private guide.

Following what promises to be a lively and fun visit, return to your hotel for the night.

    Day 4

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport (ARN). Transfers will be set up in accordance with the flight details provided. As you leave, take with you the memories of Sweden’s castles, rich history, and warm hospitality. For guests with late flights, luggage storage is available at the hotel until your transfer time. Guests will be asked to check out no later than 12:00pm.

  • Explore historical landmarks that include the royal residence Drottningholm Palace, Sweden’s oldest main street and the warship Vasa, as well as unusual attractions such as a museum celebrating the band ABBA.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in Stockholm and meet your guide to begin your exploration of the city.

Your first stop is at ABBA The Museum, an interactive attraction completely dedicated to the Swedish pop band ABBA. Many of the items on display are from the group’s private collection, including their costumes, gold records and plenty of memorabilia.

Visitors will use their own cel phones to listen to the band tell their own stories and memories from their incredible career, all while exploring the museum at own leisure with the audioguide. To listen, guests will scan the QR codes found within the exhibition. Guests must supply their own earphones or ear buds that are compatible with their phone. Staff at the museum can assist with connecting to the audioguide.

ABBA fan or not, this museum has something for everyone.

Next, visit The Vasa Museum which offers an entirely different experience, as it is home to the warship Vasa. It languished at the bottom of the bay for 333 years before being salvaged almost fully intact and preserved at the museum. Besides viewing this namesake ship, you may browse exhibits that showcase the shipyard that built it, the challenges of life on board and the invaluable role women played in the ship’s construction.

Afterwards, you will transfer to your city center hotel for check in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, enjoy a cruise from central Stockholm through Lake Mälaren and on to Drottningholm Palace. This UNESCO World Heritage site is the most well-preserved, 17th-century palace in Sweden and at the same time is representative of all European architecture for that period.

The French-influenced palace was built by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder by commission of Queen Hedvig Eleonora. A number of royal personages have since then left their marks on the palace, which is the permanent home of the royal family. The southern wing of the palace is reserved for their use, while the rest of Drottninghom and its grounds are open to the public year-round.

After touring the palace, which is on an island in Lake Mälar, you will dine at a nearby restaurant and then return back to your hotel. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will travel inland to Sigtuna, Sweden’s first town, founded in 970 by King Erik the Victorious. Its main street, Stora Gatan, is considered the oldest such road in Sweden. While exploring the historical downtown, you will likely see cryptic rune stones. Remnants of Scandinavia’s Viking past, rune stones were commonly raised as memorials to deceased family members and friends.

Following lunch in Sigtuna, you will head to Uppsala, home to Scandinavia’s oldest university. As you approach the city’s 800-year-old Gothic cathedral, you will first see its twin spires, as they soar nearly 400 feet high. Inside the cathedral, be sure to notice the 14th-century murals depicting the legend of Saint Eric IX, the patron saint of Sweden. A medieval king and a devout Christian, he was slain by his rivals in 1160.

Upon returning to Stockholm, you will spend the remainder of the day at leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast and check out in time for your private transfer to the Stockholm Airport.

Check out time at the hotel is at 12:00pm and transfers will be coordinated with the departure flight details provided. For guests with late flights, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your transfer.
