Take advantage of our best deals and start planning your unforgettable journey to the world's most inspiring destinations.

Embark on a brief but thoughtfully curated journey in New Zealand! Begin with five-star comfort in Auckland, explore the enchanting Hobbiton Movie Set and then dive into Maori culture at Te Puia. Marvel at Waitomo’s glowworm caves and enjoy a delightful lunch at a dairy farm in the countryside.
Special Notes:
•This program involves walking over varied surfaces and the caves are not accessible. For this reason we do not recommend this program for guests with wheelchairs or scooters.
•Please advise the RSSC Reservations team when you book this program should you have any special dietary restrictions or requirements. Requests will be sent to the vendors for review.
DAY 1
Upon arrival at Auckland International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and transferred by private vehicle to your centrally located luxury hotel.
Private van transfers will be used for 2 or more guests travelling together on the same booking. Private sedans will be used for solo travelers. Vans hold a maximum of four large suitcases and two carry-on’s and sedans hold two large suitcases and one carry-on. Should you have more luggage, a larger vehicle at additional cost may be required.
Check in time is at 3:00pm. Should you have an early arriving flight you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee room availability upon arrival or you may choose to store luggage at Reception and begin to enjoy the facilities of the hotel.
Your hotel is located in the heart of Auckland’s Central Business District, just steps away from Queen Street—the city’s main shopping strip—and within easy reach of many popular eateries and bars.
A hospitality desk will be available at the hotel to assist guests throughout their stay.
Depending on your arrival time, you may have time to explore the vibrant heart of Auckland on your own today. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll through the city’s bustling streets, a visit to a nearby gallery, or simply soaking in the local atmosphere, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Meals are on your own today.
DAY 2
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before checking out and taking a scenic drive to Hobbiton. Explore the magical movie set with a guided tour, wandering past hobbit holes and iconic landmarks. Highlights include a short bus ride out to the site, a 1.5 hour walking tour (about 2?km), time spent in the cozy interior of Bagshot Row’s Hobbit Holes, and a visit to The Green Dragon Inn for a themed lunch.
Next, travel to Te Puia in Rotorua for a 90-minute guided experience through the geothermal valley. Discover bubbling mud pools, geysers, and rich Maori culture.
Explore the dramatic Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, home to bubbling mud pools and the mighty Pohutu Geyser, the largest active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere.
The tour includes a visit to the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute (NZMACI), where master carvers and weavers keep Maori traditions alive, and the Kiwi Conservation Centre, where you can view New Zealand’s iconic nocturnal bird in a special enclosure.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional hangi dinner and cultural performance before proceeding to your hotel for check-in.

Experience the diversity of New Zealand’s North Island with Auckland and its spectacular harbor location as your base. In contrast to the gentile white sand beaches of the city suburbs, visit the rugged west coast of Auckland where the Tasman Sea pounds the black sand beaches. Visit a vineyard and travel to the fertile countryside south of Auckland to experience the glowworm caves at Waitomo and enjoy a farm to table lunch at a private homestead.
Note: Due to varying terrain, this program is not suited for guests with walking difficulties or those who rely on use of a wheelchair or scooter.
DAY 1
Upon arrival at the Auckland Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure and dinner is on your own. Transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.
DAY 2
Today's tour will begin with a drive through the city's central business district before departing from the city and travelling along the southern motorway past the city's southern suburbs and over the Bombay Hills. Descend into the Waikato River Valley and follow the course of the river through the fertile farmlands of the region to the coal-mining town of Huntly. Continue south past Taupiri (the mountain is sacred to the Maori people) and the town of Ngaruawahia, the seat of the Maori Queen.
Undertake a guided tour of the world-famous Waitomo Glow-worm Caves, a true geological phenomenon of nature. Unique to New Zealand, these tiny creatures radiate a fluorescent blue-green glow that illuminates the caves and underground streams the glow-worms call home. The largest chamber of the cave is known as the "Cathedral," an acoustically perfect auditorium that has hosted a number of renowned performing artists drawn to the area for the purity of sound it produces. As you embark on a short cruise in an open boat through the limestone formations, your guide will share information, legends, and facts about this fascinating and beautiful oddity of nature.
You will have lunch at a private homestead where your hosts have been farming for many years and love to share their lovely French provincial home and gardens with you. Lunch is a delight, and all food is made on the premises, including many chutneys and sauces, from the fruit trees on the property. All meat is organic and comes from local farms.
After lunch, return through the pastoral Waikato region to Auckland. Back in Auckland and your hotel, the
remainder of the evening is at your leisure with dinner on your own.
NOTE:
•Bring comfortable walking shoes and a warm jacket for the visit to the caves.
•The Waitomo Glow worm Caves are accessible to those with reasonable mobility, with good handrails and paths
•There is no wheelchair access
DAY 3
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide in reception then depart from the hotel, travelling by way of the north-western motorway, to the farming and wine-growing areas of West Auckland - Kumeu and Huapai - to Muriwai Beach on the rugged west coast. A stop is made on the cliff tops overlooking the beach. From here there is a walk of approximately 250 meters, through native plants, to the Gannet lookout.
As you will be very close to the white seabirds, you will be able to watch them nesting, feeding, and flying in the updrafts offshore. Their behavior will depend on the season and time of day, but regardless of what the activity, you can expect it to be hugely entertaining, especially if they are diving for fish. There should be hundreds, if not thousands of gannets in the colony, all of them clustered about the cliffs side by side. The dramatic setting, with sweeping views of the black sand beach and crashing waves, makes this a truly memorable experience.
From Muriwai, travel through rural farming districts to a local winery for lunch and a tasting. West Auckland is the city’s original wine region that boasts a range of wineries to tantalize your taste buds.
On leaving the winery, return to Auckland city by way of the farming areas of Waitaki and Dairy Flat to join the northern motorway at Albany. Continue into the city across the Auckland Harbor Bridge and through the downtown shopping area.
Arrive back at your hotel in Auckland. Dinner is on your own.
DAY 4
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. After check-out, board your coach for a brief sightseeing tour of the city which will include a drive along the waterfront. A stop will be made at Bastion Point for views over the harbor before continuing to St Heliers Bay and through the eastern residential suburbs. What to Bring:
As it will be summer light clothing is suggested. However, as the weather can be changeable is recommended that a rain proof jacket be carried. Sunscreen is considered essential.
Dress is informal and relaxed on most occasions. Smart casual clothes are acceptable at most restaurants and nightspots. Men are generally not expected to wear suits and ties, except in a few of the top formal bars and restaurants in major cities.
Currency:
US dollars are generally accepted only in establishments such as souvenir stores; however, credit cards are widely accepted.
Electricity:
Electricity is supplied throughout New Zealand at 230/240 volts, 50 hertz. Most hotels provide 110 volt ac sockets (rated at 20 watts) for electric razors only. Please note that power outlets only accept angled two or three pin Type I plugs (as also used in Australia) depending on whether an earth connection is fitted. Remember to bring a travel adaptor for electric devices.

Special Notes:
•Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below about airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.
•Please advise the RSSC Reservations team when you book this program should you have any special dietary restrictions or requirements. Requests will be sent to our local ground operators for review. There is a set menu meal on Day 2. Changes will not be able to be accommodated at the last minute.
•Due to luggage restrictions on the flights during this program, we recommend packing one suitcase per person and leaving any excess at the port when you disembark. It will be transferred by our local ground operator for this program to your hotel in Bali where you will be re-united with it on Day 3. Please pack accordingly prior to disembarking the ship as your excess luggage will be collected before you board the tour bus.
DAY 1
Disembark the ship in Benoa. Separate any excess luggage for storage and transfer from the pier to the Bali Airport for a flight to Sumba.
Located in eastern Indonesia, Sumba is renowned for its rugged landscapes, pristine beaches, and rich cultural heritage. Unlike its more developed neighbors, Sumba remains largely unspoiled, with vast savannahs, rolling hills, and remote villages where ancient customs thrive. The local Marapu religion shapes daily life with elaborate rituals and sacred ceremonies, while traditional houses—distinctive with their towering, peaked roofs—dot the countryside. Sumba is also famous for exquisite handwoven ikat textiles, crafted by skilled artisans using techniques passed down through generations. The island’s biodiversity is equally remarkable, home to rare bird species and unique flora, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
Upon arrival here, you’ll be greeted and taken to Makan Dulu, an open-air restaurant run by the Sumba Hospitality Foundation, a local non-profit organization. This social enterprise gives approximately fifteen students hands-on training in culinary and service skills—every meal served supports their vocational education and reinvests into the foundation.
After lunch, you’ll visit the Sumba Cultural Centre, where you'll have a concise introduction to the island’s traditions—everything from textile weaving to ancestral rituals—before heading on to your hotel.
Located along the shores of a coral reef and bordered by turquoise lagoons and traditional villages, Cap Karoso serves as an elegant base for discovering the Indonesian island of Sumba.
During your stay you may wish to experience the variety of aquatic environments surrounding the resort, including swimming or snorkeling in the serene Karoso Lagoon, surfing at Pero, fishing with local fishermen, or exploring the distinctive turquoise waters of Weekuri saltwater lake.
For those looking for something more serene, expert Sumbanese instructors provide daily yoga and meditation sessions that incorporate unique elements of Sumbanese tradition and the spa, situated within a traditional Sumbanese residence, features treatments inspired by ancient shamanic healing rituals utilizing botanicals sourced from their on-site farm and neighboring communities.
As your day winds down, consider a stroll along the beautiful shoreline. Dinner is at your leisure, allowing you to choose when and where to dine in the calm surroundings of the resort.
Note: For groups of ten guests or more staying in-house, a Regent Seven Seas Hospitality Desk will be available at the hotel.
DAY 2
After breakfast the day unfolds with a journey into the highlands of Sumba. A short drive brings you to Waikaroko, a traditional village where life remains beautifully anchored in ancestral rhythm.
You’ll be welcomed with song and dance—a vibrant expression of local warmth and pride—before being invited to walk among the tall, thatched uma, homes that shelter both the living and the spirits of those who came before.
Meet with village elders to learn about Marapu, Sumba’s ancestral belief system that continues to shape daily life on the island. Rooted in animism, Marapu centers on maintaining harmony between humans, nature, and the spirit world, with rituals often tied to agriculture, ancestor worship, and sacred sites.
After this insightful exchange, return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Rest, explore the surroundings, or simply unwind.
In the evening, gather again for a private group beach dinner including a three-course set menu, live Humba acoustic music, a traditional Sumba dance, and the serene view of grazing Sumbanese horses.
DAY 3
After breakfast, check-out, settling any incidentals before your transfer to the airport and the flight back to Bali.
Upon arrival in Bali, you will be met by our local guide who will assist you with a transfer from the airport to your hotel for the evening.
The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.
DAY 4
After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred by private vehicle to the Bali International Airport in accordance with your flight details. Should you have a later departing flight, luggage storage will be available until your transfer. Check-out time at the hotel is 12:00pm.
Solo travellers will transfer in a sedan and couples in a van. Sedans hold 2 pieces of luggage, plus 2 carry-on bags. Vans hold 4 pieces of luggage plus, 2 or 3 carry-on bags. If you have more luggage than is permissible, a larger vehicle may be required for additional cost. Please advise your booking agent at least 21 days before sailing if a larger vehicle is required.

Expected Weather:
Hot and Dry. December in Sumba is typically warm with daytime temperatures averaging 30–32°C (86–90°F). Rain is possible but usually brief and scattered. Humidity can rise during midday, especially inland. The coastal breeze offers some relief, but sun exposure is strong throughout the day.
What to Bring:
This is a casual and culturally immersive program, so lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended.
Please keep local customs in mind:
•Avoid revealing clothing; covered shoulders and knee-length shorts or skirts are appropriate for village visits.
•Bring a hat or head covering, sunscreen, sunglasses, and mosquito repellent—especially for early morning or evening activities.
•Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes are essential for village terrain. Flip-flops or sandals are not recommended for cultural visits.
•A small pack of tissues or wet wipes can also be useful, as facilities may be basic in rural areas.
•While dinner is relaxed, you may wish to bring a casual outfit for the evening.
Local Currency:
The local currency in Sumba is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Credit cards are not widely accepted outside of a few hotels and restaurants, so it is essential to carry cash. While some places may accept US Dollars, it is not guaranteed. Rupiah is strongly preferred for local purchases, tips, and entry fees.
We recommend bringing smaller denominations of USD for emergency use, but it’s best to exchange money before arriving in Sumba, either in Bali, or at the airport. ATMs in Sumba are limited and may not always be reliable, so prepare accordingly.
Electricity
Rooms are typically equipped with 220-volt, two-round-pin (European-style) electrical outlets. We recommend traveling with a universal adapter if you plan to use electronic devices from other countries.
Luggage information
On the flights between Bali and Sumba guests will be permitted to check one bag per person weighing no more than 20kg (44lbs) and one small carry on that will fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
Any additional or overweight pieces will be in excess, and fees will be paid to the airline at your expense when checking in. For this reason, should you wish, you may store excess luggage in Bali at your hotel. It will be transferred from the pier on Day 1 of the program to your hotel where you will be reunited with it on Day 3.
Please ensure that any excess bags left for storage are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship. Note that Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the hotel, nor our local ground operator are responsible or liable for any lost or missing items. We do not recommend leaving valuables behind or in checked luggage. You should keep any valuables, medications and documents with you in your carry-on handbag.
Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)
1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.
2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.
3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.
*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.
* Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.
*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, at least 95 days before sailing, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.
Documents and Visa Requirements:
Guests must carry a valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity
All travelers entering Indonesia must complete the Indonesia Customs Declaration (e-CD) online at Indonesian Customs Declaration (e-CD) should submit their details, including the date of arrival, three days before entering Indonesia
VERY IMPORTANT
The name on your cruise booking, passport, and ANY visas, if required, must all be exactly the same for flight ticket purchase for this program otherwise guests may be denied travel by flight. Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name.
Manifests generated by the cruise line must match your travel documents. Guests are responsible to make sure that there are enough pages in their passports for any visas that are required – Minimum two pages for each visa.
Failure to have the required and correct documents ahead of time could result in denial of travel and guests will have to pay for any expenses incurred in order to not proceed with the program or guests may need to purchase new flight tickets at their own cost.
The above information is subject to change and serves as a guide only. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our guests that it is the ultimate and sole responsibility of the guest to ensure they meet the entry requirements for each destination.
If traveling internationally, the countries you are flying to and/ or connecting through may have different document requirements and as such we encourage you to visit the government and airport websites of every country you will be traveling to throughout the journey to familiarize yourself with their requirements for your nationality.
