Land Programs & Hotels

  • Stay in The Wildlife Retreat within the Taronga Zoo, interact with indigenous animals, explore a national park, stroll a botanical garden and visit a laid-back beach town – all while enjoying Sydney’s stunning natural beauty.

    Special Notes:

•This program includes quite a bit of walking (mostly flat surfaces). It is not recommended for guests with mobility restrictions.

•If you have any food intolerances or special dietary needs, please inform us prior to your departure for review by our local vendors.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at the Sydney International Airport, you will pass through customs, collect your luggage and meet your private driver outside the gates shortly afterwards. You will then transfer to the Wildlife Retreat; your eco-friendly accommodation located inside the Taronga Zoo.

Check-in at the retreat is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available sooner, this cannot be guaranteed. For guests arriving early, you may wish to book an extra night so that a room is available upon your arrival.

Once checked in, guests will be free to explore Taronga Zoo when it is open, from the day you arrive through the day you depart. The zoo closes at 4:30pm in the winter and 5:00pm in the summer. You can enter the zoo directly from the Wildlife Retreat. No extra passes are required. Your room key will provide entry into the zoo and back into the retreat throughout your stay.

Your Bushland room has views overlooking a variety of native trees and flora. Keep an eye out for the wild birds amongst the bush.

In the evening, dinner is included at the Me-Gal restaurant onsite and can be enjoyed at your leisure. Guests just need to drop by or call the reception desk to confirm a preferred dining time.

Note: A guide will not be staying with the group at the hotel. However, during your stay, you will be assigned a Regent representative and provided with contact details should you require anything that the hotel staff cannot assist with. The Wildlife Retreat is a non-smoking property. A valid credit card and photo identification matching the name on your reservation is required to check in to the Wildlife Retreat. The Wildlife Retreat is a cashless facility and accepts credit card payments only.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast in the Me-Gal Restaurant, you will meet your guide in the hotel lobby and transfer to the ferry terminal, where you will take a boat shuttle across Sydney Harbor and into the downtown.

Start with a walk to the Sydney Botanical Gardens, where you will have the opportunity to learn about vast species of Australian plant life that are located in the middle of the city.

Next, visit the Art Gallery of New South Wales for a guided tour of the newest Sydney Modern Project, which showcases both modern art and remarkable works by Aboriginal artists.

For an insight into the history of Sydney and the arrival of the first settlers in 1788, you will walk through the historical and cultural area known as The Rocks. There in a pub, you will enjoy an Australian pizza for lunch with a glass of beer or wine.

In the afternoon, you will return to The Wilderness Retreat and tour The Sanctuary with a park ranger. You can expect an up-close and personal experience with indigenous animals such as koalas, wallabies and echidnas. The ranger will provide you with exclusive access to areas of the park not accessible to the general public, allowing you to meet these remarkable animals and have a real conversation with the experts on the conservation and protection of these unique species.

The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Dinner is included at the Me-Gal restaurant.

Note: Today will include a fair amount of walking, therefore we recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes and light, loose clothing along with lots of sun protection. Also note, animals may not be held in the state of New South Wales.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast in the Me-Gal Restaurant, you will meet your guide in the hotel lobby and set out for a tour of the Ku Ring Gai National Park.

Here you will find a multitude of gum trees, also known as eucalyptus. Your guide will share stories and showcase how life was for the original inhabitants prior to colonization of the country. Be sure to look for various rock-art sites while you drive through the park.

Continuing on, arrive to Broken Bay Pearl Farm, where you will meet a group of passionate oyster and pearl cultivators. The visit will provide you with an insight into the area’s natural beauty on land and during a cruise on the Hawkesbury River, where you will see the saltwater paddocks. Learn why the environment there is ideal for growing oysters of all varieties and in turn how oysters give back to people and place.

Following your visit, return to The Wildlife Retreat for an afternoon at leisure. This is the perfect time to visit the zoo or perhaps head back to the city center to explore on your own. Ferries depart between the zoo and Circular Quay (downtown Sydney) approximately every 30 minutes.

The evening is also at your leisure with dinner included at the Me-Gal restaurant.

    DAY 4

Following breakfast in the Me-Gal Restaurant, you will check out and meet your guide in the hotel lobby.

Driving north, you will explore the more uncrowded beaches of Sydney. Your destination is Palm Beach, a quintessential beach town where the Australian show “Home and Away” was filmed. Affectionately known as “Palmy” by locals, Palm Beach is located at the end of a long peninsula and boasts beautiful golden sand and clear water, which has inspired the wealthy to build their holiday homes there.

You will have time to enjoy the vistas before sitting down to lunch in a beach-style restaurant, allowing you to take in the vibe and culture of this beach community.

Afterwards, you will return to the cruise terminal in Sydney and embark the ship.

Note: Your luggage will be taken directly to the ship while on tour today. Keep any valuables, medications and documents with you.

  • The Hunter Valley, located just 2 hours north of Sydney, is famous for its exceptional food and wine, as well as its natural beauty. The region offers a rich blend of world-class wineries, gourmet dining and luxurious accommodation all set in the beautiful surrounds of picturesque mountains and rolling vineyards. This gastronomic itinerary includes sumptuous wine tastings, delicious meals accompanied by matching wines, a visit to the Hunter Valley Chocolate factory, as well as a unique sunrise wildlife experience. This program promises to be an experience that you won’t soon forget.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at the Sydney International Airport, you will be met in the arrivals hall by one of our local team members who will escort you to your vehicle for a private transfer to your hotel located in the heart of the city. A group transfer will be provided for all guests arriving on the same flight.

Check in at your hotel is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Guests may leave their luggage with the bell captain and use the facilities of the hotel or venture out into the city should your room not be available upon arrival. Alternatively, guests may purchase an extra night to guarantee a ready room upon arrival. Meals are on your own today.

Note: Couples or pairs will be transferred by private van or SUV (max 4 large bags total plus 1 carry-on per person); solo guests will use a sedan (2 large suitcases plus a carry-on). Extra luggage may require a larger vehicle at additional cost—notify your RSSC booking agent at least 14 days before sailing with this information. Transfers include driver only.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, assemble in the lobby to meet your guide who will accompany you throughout your Hunter Valley experience. Your first stop will be at The Convent Luxury Boutique Hotel. This heritage-listed property blends old-world charm with contemporary comfort. The Convent features beautifully restored rooms with antique furnishings, stunning views over the vineyards and a serene, peaceful ambiance.

Check in isn’t until 3:00pm so after leaving your bags with reception, you will have time to stretch your legs and use the facilities before you make your way to a private wine tasting at The Convent Cellar. Taste a selection of local wines from Hunter Valley wineries and learn about the region’s wine history and winemaking techniques from a resident expert.

Next, it’s off to lunch at The Convent’s Circa 1876, one of the Hunter Valley's most iconic restaurants - located aside the historic cottage on the picturesque grounds of Roscrea Estate, surrounded by rich produce-filled kitchen gardens. The menu features delicious dishes like roasted duck breast with fig compote, local vegetables, and house-made chutneys (menu subject to change based on seasonality).

After lunch, visit the Hunter Valley Gardens, a stunning 60-acre garden complex. Wander through the themed gardens, which include a rose garden, oriental garden, and a gorgeous reflecting lake. Following time at the gardens, it’s onto Brokenwood Wines, one of the valley’s most respected wineries. Here, you can enjoy a private wine and cheese pairing experience where local cheeses are matched with Brokenwood’s famous Semillon and Shiraz. The relaxed, beautiful setting of the Brokenwood tasting room, with its wooden beams and open fireplace, adds to the experience.

Following your visit to Brokenwood, return to The Convent where the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.

Dinner will be at Muse Restaurant, a Hunter Valley gem known for its Michelin-level cuisine and exceptional service. Enjoy a degustation menu paired with the finest regional wines. The chef’s tasting menu changes seasonally but expect beautifully crafted dishes like lamb loin with smoked eggplant or a chocolate mousse with local berries (items listed are for reference only and may be subject to change). After dinner, retreat to the peaceful surroundings of The Convent.

    DAY 3

Start your day with a Sunrise Wildlife Experience. You’ll depart the hotel for the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park where you will receive exclusive, early access to the park. You will be met by an expert Zookeeper who will guide you around the park paying special attention to Australia’s wonderfully unique animals. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to get up close with a koala, one of Australia’s most iconic animals, and take home a professional photograph as a keepsake. Following your visit, return to your hotel for a sumptuous breakfast featuring Hunter Valley Sparkling Wine.

No trip to the Hunter Valley is complete without a stop at the Hunter Valley Chocolate Company. Here, you will be able to sample handmade chocolates that are infused with local flavors like Shiraz, honey, and macadamia. The boutique shop offers a wide selection of luxurious treats to take home as souvenirs.

For lunch, head to Esca Bimbadgen. With a focus on modern Australian cuisine, the restaurant has a relaxing yet sophisticated atmosphere, complemented by sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards. Their lunch menu features locally sourced ingredients, and the food is expertly paired with Bimbadgen's premium wines. Following lunch, you will be treated to Bimbadgen Winery’s sophisticated tasting experience where you might sample their signature Shiraz and Chardonnay and explore their wine lounge with spectacular views of the valley.

Take a break from the wine and enjoy a cheese and local produce tasting at the Hunter Valley Cheese Factory after which you will return to The Convent for some free time before dinner.

For dinner, enjoy the exceptional cuisine at Restaurant Botanica, located at Spicers Vineyards Estate. Known for its innovative use of fresh, local ingredients, the restaurant offers a stunning degustation menu with wine pairings from the estate’s cellar.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at The Convent, you’ll be treated to an exhilarating helicopter tour over the Hunter Valley. This scenic flight offers breathtaking aerial views of the vineyards, mountain ranges, and sprawling estates.

Lunch today will be at Bistro Molines. Known for its French-inspired menu and sophisticated atmosphere, this restaurant offers a refined yet comfortable dining experience. Expected Weather:

Singapore is known for its hot and humid weather, with little variation throughout the year. The average daytime temperature is 31ºC (88ºF), dropping to around 24ºC (75ºF) in the evenings. The monsoon season can bear down pretty heavily on our tropical weather from November onwards. Be prepared for rain on a daily basis during this period.

    What to bring:

When packing, keep in mind that you will be in the tropics. Light, cool, and casual clothing is recommended all year round. Bring your bathing suit, good walking shoes, umbrella or rain jacket, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, cameras and chargers.

    Local Currency:

The currency used in Singapore is the Singapore dollar (S$). Money changing services can be found not only at the Singapore Changi Airport but also at most shopping malls and hotels around the island. You can also access the automated teller machines (ATMs) located everywhere (even in the most obscure bits) in Singapore, that accept most of the main credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

    Electricity

Singapore's electricity voltage is 220-240V with ac, 50 cycles per second. Generally, the electricity outlets are three-pronged - two parallel flat pins with a ground outlet. We recommend you bring a universal travel adaptor for electric devices.

    Distilled Water

Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, at least 95 days before sailing, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    Documents and Visa Requirements:

Visitors must have a valid passport or internationally recognized travel document valid for minimum six months beyond the date of entry into Singapore. You should also check with your local embassy for any visa requirements for your nationality.

  • Just outside Cambodia’s Siem Reap, a unique and thrilling adventure awaits you in the jungles of Angkor, where you can uncover the rich history and grand architecture of the Khmer Empire. Obscured by dense vegetation for centuries, the glorious temples of Angkor comprise one of the world’s largest religious monuments. The most famous is the enormous Angkor Wat, whose soaring walls are covered with intricate carvings. You will also pass through the imposing gates of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, to explore the renowned Bayon Temple.

    Please note:

-There is extensive walking over uneven ground at the temple sites - at times up to 2 km, with steps at Bayon and Angkor Wat. This tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulty or if confined to a wheelchair. It can also be very hot and humid there.

-Cambodia visa fee is included in the tour and will be applied upon arrival at Siem Reap Airport

-Flight schedules are subject to change thus the tour sequence may vary

-Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below about airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    DAY 1

After disembarking the ship, identify your luggage and then transfer from the pier to the Singapore Airport. Upon arrival, proceed through check-in for your flight to Siem Reap. You will be accompanied on the flight by a representative from our local ground agency.

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and assisted with obtaining your Cambodian Entry Visa and the Angkor Temple Passes required for touring. Once this has been issued, board an air-conditioned coach for the transfer to your hotel for check-in.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on own.

NOTE: Your passport will be kept by our program operations team in order to process the visa on arrival and for exit procedures on departure day. Your passport will be safely returned to you on Day 3.

Please pack accordingly before departing the ship. Any excess luggage to be left in Singapore while you are in Siem Reap will be collected when you disembark. Don’t forget to label any luggage to be stored with your name and bring any valuables, medication and documents with you.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at your hotel, visit the city of Angkor Thom including its 12th-century Bayon Temple, the Terrace of the Leper King and the Elephant Terrace, a sandstone wall featuring carvings of hunting scenes and three-headed elephants.

Continuing on, you will see the temple of Ta Prohm, which is famous for its forest atmosphere and enormous fig trees. This temple has intentionally not been restored, and it looks just as it did when the first European explorer arrived. It may look familiar, as Ta Prohm has been a location in numerous movies, including the blockbuster action film “Tomb Raider.”

After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Satcha, a Cambodian handicrafts center that fosters local artisans who mix traditional knowledge with contemporary design to showcase their talents and highlight Cambodian culture. Their aim is to encourage the young generation to perpetuate this ancestral know-how while creating unique and desirable products, allowing them to further develop their core skills to become autonomous and financially independent.

Continue to look around the Old Market (Phsar Chas) - the most popular with tourists and visitors, offering the greatest selection of souvenirs, textiles, handicrafts, statues, and curios of any of the traditional markets.

Back at the hotel, enjoy dinner and an Apsara cultural show

Overnight at the Borei Angkor Resort or similar hotel

    DAY 3

This morning after breakfast, visit the Angkor Wat Temple Complex, seat of the once mighty Angkor Empire and the highlight of your program. It was from here that kings ruled over a vast territory that extended from the tip of what is now southern Vietnam, northward to Yunnan in China, and westward to the Bay of Bengal.

Your guide will point out the best spots for taking photos of this massive temple complex as you walk amidst the moss-peppered cobbled pathways, gaze up at the intricately carved tower tops and perhaps climb the steep and narrow temple steps that lead to wide courtyards. Lose yourself in contemplation as you catch the rays of the sun dancing off the bas relief carvings, the chatter of monkeys reverberating off the temple walls.

You will have approximately 2 hours to explore its archaeological treasures with your guide before returning to your hotel.

Following your unforgettable exploration of the temples, you will return to the hotel to freshen up and check out. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Singapore (passports are returned) where upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. You will also be reunited with any stored luggage. Dinner is on your own.

Although dinners are not formal, you may want to bring something a bit dressier for that time of day.

Bring a hat or a head covering for sun protection and don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and bug spray (you should have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset hours). It’s also a good idea to bring along a small packet of tissues or wet wipes. It is also suggested that guests wear flat comfortable walking shoes (not sandals or open toed shoes / flip flops). Guests are requested to take off their footwear and hats when visiting religious sites.

    Currency:

Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most commonly accepted in Cambodia. The local currency is the Cambodian Riel. You should take smaller denominations of US Dollars with you, as they will keep you from ending up with a lot of local change that you will not be able to re-exchange back home.

    Electricity:

Rooms are equipped with 220-volt, two-pin US style electrical outlets. We recommend travelling with your own adapter kits should you have electronic devices.

    Water:

Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Singapore and Siem Reap is potable.

    Luggage:

For a program of this length and nature, we suggest no more than one suitcase per person.

Luggage Weight Restrictions: 20kg (44lbs) - Light luggage would be most suitable for this 3-night trip. Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be in excess, and fees will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense. If you wish you can store excess luggage in Singapore at the hotel. You will be reunited with it on Day 3. Please ensure that all excess bags are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship. Note that Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the hotel, nor our local ground operator are liable for any lost or missing items. We do not recommend leaving valuables behind or in checked luggage. You should keep any valuables, medications and documents with you in your carry-on handbag.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

    1. Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline. Please advise RSSC of the specifics at least 14 days before sailing.

    2. CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC right away (pre cruise program) or the Destination Staff on board the ship (post cruise or overland programs) at least 96 hours before the program starts if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.

    3. CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.

*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    Documentation:

Guests must carry a valid passport with at least 6 months validity after the program dates and have spare pages for the Cambodian Visa. Visas will be issued on arrival in Siem Reap and are included in the cost of the program.

All travelers (Tourists, Expats and Cambodians) are now required to submit the Cambodia e-Arrival Card within 7 days before their arrival via a mobile app or at https://arrival.gov.kh/

Guests are also required to submit an electronic Singapore Arrival Card within three days prior to arrival into Singapore. They are not permitted any earlier. Please follow instructions on this website https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard/ or through the official “MyICA” mobile application. Submissions are free of charge.

VERY IMPORTANT – The name on your cruise booking, passport and any visas if required, must all be exactly the same for flight ticket purchase for this program otherwise guests may be denied travel by flight. Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name. Manifests generated by the cruise line must match your travel documents.

Failure to have the required documents ahead of time or incorrect names on flight tickets will result in either denial of travel or ticket re-purchase and guests will be responsible for any fees incurred.

  • Immerse yourself in Javanese history and culture through visits to both Hindu and Buddhist temples, while watching artisans forge kris daggers, by exploring the Sultan’s Palace and through strolling Yogyakarta’s vibrant, somewhat offbeat shopping district. The well-preserved traditions and special charm of this region is sure to captivate its visitors.

Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below about airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    DAY 1

After disembarking the ship in Benoa, you will transfer to the airport in Denpasar and fly to the city of Yogyakarta in Java.

Upon landing at the Yogyakarta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel where you can freshen up before dinner. Drive time is approximately 1.5 hours to the hotel. A stop will be made along the way for lunch. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, an easy stroll from the vibrant district of Malioboro.

Dinner will be held in the stunningly beautiful gardens of the d’Omah Hotel in Yogyakarta. Guests will be welcomed by esteemed host Warwick Purser, an Australian who became Indonesian by presidential decree and is legendary for his countless adventures and entrepreneurial skills, as well as his unwavering commitment to community development.

Guests will be regaled with tales of his amazingly colorful life while savoring a procession of fifteen different and delicious dishes in what can only be described as a “rijstaffel feast” or an Indonesian elaborate meal.

Literally meaning “rice table,” the meal will feature an array of delights that typically include satay, gado gado salad, beef rendang and any number of fish, meat and vegetable dishes, along with the obligatory bowls of fragrant rice plus sauces and fiery sambals.

As well as an unforgettable gourmet occasion, this dinner provides a chance for guests to get familiar with the life of a truly extraordinary man.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, your day begins with learning about and watching the traditional art of kris-making, a skill that UNESCO recognized as a Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage of Humanity. A kris is an asymmetrical dagger with distinctive blade-patterning from its alternating laminations of iron. It can take a month to forge a single piece.

Krises have been produced throughout Indonesia for centuries, but nowhere is the kris so embedded in the culture as in Central Java. Krises are used for display, as talismans, weapons, sanctified heirlooms, and accessories for ceremonial dress, indicators of social status and symbols of heroism. Kris-makers do more than forge the weapon, they perform rituals said to infuse the blade with mystical powers. As such, kris are considered to be vessels of spirits, both good and evil.

Continuing on, you will tour the Taman Sari or Water Castle which is located within the grounds of the Kraton, also known as the Sultan’s Palace. It was designed in the mid-18th century as a royal pleasure park for the first Sultanate of Yogyakarta and his entourage. It is said that the sultan would sit in the tower and watch the goings-on in the bathing complex while being entertained by his wives.

After lunch, visit Kota Gede, a district famous for silver crafting. At a workshop there, you will watch a demonstration of this ancient skill before exploring more craft showrooms in the backstreets of this historic neighbourhood.

Following your visit, return to your hotel where the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Enjoy dinner at the hotel this evening.

    DAY 3

After breakfast this morning, travel approximately 40km out of Yogyakarta to the stunning temple complex at Borobudur, the largest single Buddhist monument in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage site consists of six square terraces topped by three circular ones. Two million stone blocks were used to build the temple and with an estimated 2,500 relief panels and more than 500 Buddha statues, it is exquisite beyond comparison.

Following a stop for lunch, visit the 9th century Hindu temple compound of Prambanan. This impressive collection of temples is dedicated to the Trimurti, a concept of Hinduism whereby Brahma is the Creator, Vishnu is the Preserver and Shiva is the Destroyer which is often referred to as the ‘Great Trinity’ or ‘Hindu Triad’.

Your tour ends with a lovely outdoor dinner and a Ramayana ballet performance with Prambanan Temple in the background. The Ramayana ballet tells a legendary epic love story, presented in a series of graceful dance movements accompanied by gamelan music – an orchestra of traditional Javanese instruments.

For those who enjoy cultural displays, this is an impressive performance that is not to be missed. The ballet brings together different aspects of traditional Javanese culture with dance, drama, music and costume all on display. Performers do not speak during the dance and the ballet is narrated by the storyteller, known as the sinden, a female singer who describes the story through Javanese song. Note: in the event of inclement weather, the show will take place indoors.

After the show, return to your hotel for the evening.

    Day 4

After breakfast and checking out, begin the three-hour drive to Semarang. Upon arrival pay a visit to Lawang Sewu, an attractive building that served as the headquarters of the Indonesian railways during Java’s Dutch period. Many beautiful stained-glass windows are visible, and the building is said to have one thousand doors. Many locals believe the building is haunted since during the Japanese occupation of WWII, the dungeons were used to hold prisoner interrogations.

Also enjoy a walking tour in Semarang’s historic centre where many buildings from Java’s period of Dutch occupation remain.

In the Old Town, known at Kota Lama, visit Greja Blenduk, the oldest church in central Java dating back to 1753. Built in the shape of a Greek cross, the interior of this impressive Protestant church is dominated by a large baroque organ and pulpit. Although the organ has never been restored to a working status, it stands as a quiet reminder of the church's glorious past.

Afterwards, you will be driven to Tanjung Emas Harbor in Semarang where you will reboard the ship.

Voltage in Indonesia is 220 volts, so a transformer will be needed to operate 100-volt appliances. Electrical appliances will require an adapter that can change the shape of the plug prongs, so be sure to bring a universal plug adapter. Rural areas may only be serviced with 110 volts.

    Luggage information for the flight

Luggage allowance is 1 checked suitcase with a maximum weight of 10 kgs/ 22/lbs per person. A small carry-on is also permitted but must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    DAY 1 – March 31, 2027

After disembarking the ship in Semarang, you will meet your guide and transfer to Yogyakarta to visit the 9th-century temple Prambanan. The temple is a magnificent piece of architecture adorned with sculptures and reliefs that are considered masterworks of Hindu art.

Unlike many temple complexes, Prambanan was not constructed in a symmetrical manner. The largest of its temples, dedicated to Shiva, rises majestically more than 150 feet into the air and is lavishly carved. If the day is clear, the temple will be silhouetted against the bright blue sky, a sight that is extraordinary.

Enjoy lunch at Manohara, a serene hideaway set within Borobudur’s sacred grounds. The restaurant serves thoughtfully prepared Indonesian dishes in a breezy, garden-framed setting that feels both grounded and contemplative, an inviting pause before exploring the temple

After lunch, you will visit Borobudur Temple. The world’s largest Buddhist temple, Borobudur was built during the 8th and 9th centuries. It was constructed in three tiers, the topmost containing 72 openwork stupas, each with a statue of Buddha inside. The guide will describe the construction and significance of Borobudur, a monument so important that UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage site.

Following your visit, stay overnight in Plataran Heritage Borobudur, a peaceful sanctuary in the shadow of Borobudur and the countryside. Enjoy an Indonesian dinner at your leisure before closing the evening.

Note: At Borobodur guests will be required to change their footwear for upanat (special footwear for the Temple that reduce wear and tear on the temple's ancient rock, they are a souvenir after the tour, socks cannot be worn with these sandals due – they are similar to flip flops)

    DAY 2 – April 1, 2027

In the morning, after proceeding with the check-out of your hotel and settling any incidentals, you will meet the guide that will accompany you to the airport for a flight to Balikpapan on the eastern coast of Borneo.

Upon landing, savour an Indonesian lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to visit Mangrove Forest Centre for an afternoon Black River boat trip. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride to seek out the endangered Proboscis monkey and other wildlife.

After the river cruise, you will be transferred to Samboja Lodge, which sits in midst of a rainforest. The lodge was designed in a local architectural style using recycled materials wherever possible and is decorated with handicrafts from the Dayaks, the indigenous tribe of Borneo.

A foundation dedicated to the survival of Borneo’s endangered orangutans created the lodge and nurture the more than 200 orangutans that inhabit the six manmade islands around the grounds. You will have the opportunity to observe the orangutans that live in a sanctuary near the lodge. Also on the property, sits one of the world’s largest sun bear sanctuaries.

Later, you will enjoy dinner at Samboja Lodge and spend an evening in the wonderfully harmonious setting.

Note: The lodge and its rooms are rustic but comfortable, do not expect luxury amenities. Some rooms may be on the second floor.

    DAY 3 – April 2, 2027

This morning, following breakfast you will have the opportunity to observe the orangutans, as well as the sun bears that live in a sanctuary near the lodge.

The animals are fed fruits, vegetables and leafy branches from the surrounding rainforest by the BOS rehabilitation team. You will then continue to visit the office tower and learn about the project of Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation.

Return to Samboja Lodge for lunch and to proceed with check-out. Depart the lodge at 1:00 PM to continue exploring the city of Balikpapan. Enjoy an unhurried visit to a local handicraft center and a traditional market before your transfer to the Balikpapan airport for your evening flight to Singapore.

    Weather:

Warm and Humid with daytime temperatures averaging 30–32°C (86–90°F) Light to moderate rain showers may occur, often in the afternoon or evening, bringing brief relief from the heat. Humidity levels remain high, breathable clothing, insect repellent and sun protection are recommended. A small pack of tissues or wet wipes can also be useful, as facilities may be basic in rural areas.

Avoid revealing clothing; covered shoulders and knee-length shorts or skirts are appropriate for village visits.

    What to Bring:

Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes and lightweight, breathable clothing are recommended, mosquito repellent, hat, sunscreen, camera, charger, binoculars. It can get cool in the evenings, so we also recommend that you bring a light sweater, long sleeve shirt, or shawl.

Bring both sturdy walking shoes for use on the trails and waterproof sandals to wear when you are travelling by boat. Keep in mind that due to the wet weather, floors can frequently be slippery and the ground muddy, so the better the grip on your shoes, the easier it will be on you.

    Local Currency:

The local currency in Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Credit cards are not widely accepted outside of a few hotels and restaurants, so it is essential to carry cash. While some places may accept US Dollars, it is not guaranteed Rupiah is strongly preferred for local purchases, tips, and entry fees.

We recommend bringing smaller denominations of USD for emergency use, but it’s best to exchange money before arriving in Indonesia. ATMs in Yogyakarta and Balikpapan are limited and may not always be reliable, so prepare accordingly.

    Electricity

Rooms are typically equipped with 220-volt, two-round-pin (European-style) electrical outlets. We recommend traveling with a universal adapter if you plan to use electronic devices from other countries.

    Luggage information

Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be in excess, and fees will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.

2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.

3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Not providing the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.
