Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Italy, where timeless history meets vibrant holiday traditions. From awe-inspiring masterpieces at the Vatican and the iconic treasures of Rome to the enchanting Christmas markets of Viterbo, this land program promises magical moments, exquisite cuisine, and the warm glow of Italian hospitality. Let ancient streets, breathtaking art, and festive delights create memories to last a lifetime.
Special Notes:
•This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or those who utilize a wheelchair or scooter due to the amount of walking, steps, cobbled surfaces and lack of elevators at some sites.
•If you have any food intolerances or special dietary needs, please contact the Regent Reservations Team at least 95 days prior to your departure. It is important that your land program extension reflects these details so our local vendors can ensure smooth and enjoyable dining experiences.
The below represents a sample itinerary. Should a site be closed on a particular day, your itinerary will be amended accordingly so that all sites are seen. Final cruise documents received 21 days before sailing will include the most up to date itinerary for your particular voyage.
Please advise RSSC no later than 100 days before departure if you are travelling with other guests on this program. This is to ensure that you are placed in the same Vatican entrance group. Once the Vatican tickets are purchased, changes cannot be made. Guests will also be required to show identification when entering the Vatican.
DAY 1 – December 18, 2026
Upon exiting Customs at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to the Sina Bernini Bristol Hotel, an Autograph Collection hotel or similar.
Check in is at 3:00pm, and the rest of the day is yours to settle in at your leisure.
Meals are on your own today.
Note: A private van or SUV will be used to transfer couples or parties of two between the airport and the hotel. Vans hold a maximum of four pieces of large luggage (total) plus one carry-on sized bag per person. A sedan will be used for solo guests, which can hold 2 large suitcases and a carry-on. If you will have more luggage, a larger vehicle may be required for additional cost. Please advise your booking agent at least 14 days before sailing if a larger vehicle is required. Transfers are with driver only.
DAY 2 – December 19, 2026
Following breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and proceed to the Vatican where you will tour the Vatican Museums and Saint Peter’s Basilica. The Vatican Museums house one of the world’s most extraordinary art collections, featuring masterpieces from ancient sculptures to Renaissance treasures, including the iconic Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo.
The visit continues to St. Peter’s Basilica, the heart of the Catholic world, renowned for its majestic architecture, soaring dome, and stunning works of art such as the Pietà. HoAfter the visit you will return back to your hotel.
In the afternoon, join a guided walking tour through some of Rome’s most iconic sites.
Your experience begins at the enchanting Trevi Fountain, where the sound of cascading water and the Baroque grandeur of the monument create a magical atmosphere. Take a moment to admire its intricate sculptures and, if you wish, follow tradition by tossing a coin into the fountain to ensure your return to Rome.
The tour continues to the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved ancient temples in the world. As you step inside, you’ll marvel at its impressive dome and the oculus that illuminates the interior with a natural spotlight, revealing centuries of history and architectural brilliance.
Your walk then leads you to Piazza Navona, a lively square built on the ancient Stadium of Domitian. Surrounded by elegant palaces and baroque fountains, including Bernini’s celebrated Fountain of the Four Rivers—the piazza offers a perfect blend of art, culture, and vibrant Roman life. Here, you’ll enjoy the atmosphere of the Christmas market, with stalls offering seasonal treats, crafts, and festive decorations.
This leisurely walking tour provides a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in Rome’s charm, history, and holiday spirit. Enjoy a warm paper cone of roasted chestnuts as you stroll through the square.
After the tour, you will reach the restaurant, where you will be offered a dinner featuring traditional Christmas dishes. Afterwards you will return to your hotel.
NOTE: Scooters are not permitted in the Vatican Museums and guests with wheelchairs are not permitted to tour with the group. Guests requiring a wheelchair will need to use a museum wheelchair and a have a separate guide at an additional cost of approximately 150 Euro payable on site (subject to change).
DAY 3 – December 20, 2026
Spend the morning at leisure. In the afternoon, travel to Viterbo for a guided tour of this historic city. En
route enjoy a panoramic drive past some of the iconic sites of Ancient Rome including the Colosseum,
Caracalla Baths and Circus Maximus.
Viterbo is a charming medieval city in northern Lazio, known for its well-preserved historic center and impressive architectural heritage. Often called the “City of the Popes,” it features the elegant Papal Palace, ancient stone houses, and atmospheric narrow streets. Its medieval quarter, San Pellegrino, offers a picturesque setting of arches, towers, and artisan workshops.
Enjoy some free time to visit the local Christmas market and then walk to a local restaurant for dinner.
Afterwards, sit back and relax during the drive back to your hotel. The drive is approximately 1.5 hours between Rome and Viterbo depending on traffic.

Travel with information must be noted in your land program extension. Vatican groups are limited to 10 guests per group and our groups may not all go on the same day.

Visit Villa D’Este, masterpiece of the Italian Garden, and included in the UNESCO world heritage list. With its impressive concentration of fountains, nymphs, grottoes, plays of water, and music, it constitutes a much-copied model for European gardens in the mannerist and baroque styles.
After the visit, enjoy some free time to wonder through the colorful open-air market selling all sorts of souvenirs, fruits and local products, then enjoy lunch in a beautiful restaurant overlooking another one of Tivoli’s sights, the beautiful Villa Gregoriana. Drive back to the hotel.
In time, you will return to your hotel where the remainder of the day and dinner are on your own.

Visit the most archaeologically important sites in and around Athens, including the Acropolis, the Temple of Poseidon and Ancient Corinth, with a stop at the extraordinary manmade Corinth Canal as well.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an extensive 4-day program that covers a lot of ground by luxury coach. There is a lot of driving involved but guests will have a unique opportunity to visit two of the most precious and sacred sites in a beautiful and unspoiled part of Northern Greece. Due to the amount of walking over uneven ground and steps at the various ancient sites, this program is not suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair, walker, cane or who have other mobility restrictions.
DAY 1
Disembark the ship in Piraeus, Greece, meet your guide and set off to Athens for a guided visit to the Acropolis site. Along the way pass by landmarks such as Constitution Square, the Houses of Parliament, the Neoclassical-style university buildings, the Royal Palace and the Old Olympic Stadium of Athens. The stadium is built entirely of marble and offers a great view of the Acropolis in the distance. The highlight is when you arrive at the foot of the magnificent Acropolis, one of the most famous and photographed ancient monuments in the world.
During a walking tour of the site, your guide describes the history and once you get to the top, you will have some free time to wander round and admire the ancient temples of Athena Nike and the towering Parthenon.
Afterwards, you will visit the breathtaking Acropolis Museum, whose collection of artifacts was excavated from the Acropolis.
Leaving Athens city center, head towards the small town of Kalyvia, located to the southeast of Athens, to enjoy lunch in a traditional rustic taverna. In this eatery, you will have the chance to taste traditional Greek cuisine.
After lunch, enjoy a scenic drive to the iconic Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. Perched above the Aegean Sea, the ancient site offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into Greece's rich history.
Visit the 5th century BC Temple of Poseidon, standing some 200 feet above the sea at the edge of a cliff. It is one of the most breathtaking and deeply moving sights in all of Greece. This is the place where the ancient Greeks worshipped their mighty god of the seas, Poseidon.
On your way back to the hotel, take in the coastal views along the way.
Note: Expect high temperatures in the summer months and heavy crowds. There are upwards of 100 or more uneven steps to get to the top of the Acropolis Site.. There are handrails in some spots but not everywhere. Those not wishing to venture to the top can remain at the bottom and wait for the group to return. The ground at the top is uneven. Large bags are not permitted here and must be left on the tour bus.
DAY 2
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and have a day on your own to explore and enjoy the city of Athens.
In the evening, you will take a stroll through the enchanting historical area of Athens with its traditional streets, restaurants, shops and colorful old quarter, where ancient monuments and Byzantine churches are abundant. In the Plaka neighborhood, you will enjoy a traditional Greek dinner before returning to your hotel.
DAY 3
After breakfast, meet your guide and drive to the Isthmus of Corinth for a photo stop at the famous Corinth Canal which connects the Ionian and Aegean seas, thus providing a maritime shortcut. The Canal is four miles long, 70 feet wide and has sloping sides 170 feet high.
Your next stop will be at Ancient Corinth. The ruins that lie in this area are a surprising mix of a 6th-century BC Greek city and a 44 BC Roman city -- the latter was built after Julius Caesar placed a colony on this desolate site. You will see the ruins and excavations of both, including where the Christian Basilica, the starting lines of a Greek racetrack, a sacred spring with its bronze lion's-head spouts, and the elaborate Roman fountain of Peirene were located.
Afterwards you will visit the somber and mighty ruins of ancient Mycenae -- vestiges of a kingdom that, for 400 years, was the most powerful in all of Greece. Enter the Citadel of Mycenae on foot, approaching it through the famous Lion Gate. Inside are the shaft graves discovered by Schliemann. You will also visit the Beehive Tomb, known sometimes as the Tomb of Agamemnon, the Greek Commander-in-Chief during the Trojan War. Continue to a close by restaurant for Greek lunch, before proceeding to your next stop.
A short drive will bring you to the first capital of modern-day Greece after the war of Independence. Nafplion is now regarded as one of the most romantic destinations in Greece, and you will walk through its Venetian and neoclassical buildings, old neighborhoods and large squares. You will see the famous Bourtzi protecting the entrance to the harbor and Akronafplia and Palamidi castles, which add a sense of drama to this stunning seaport town.
Return in the evening to Athens and your hotel.
DAY 4
After your breakfast, settle any incidentals and check out, transfer to the Athens airport for your flight home. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your transfer time.
