  • POST - DISCOVER MACHU PICCHU (DELUXE) 2023-24 CODE: LIMLA4

Delve into the sacred and mysterious landmarks of the Inca Empire including one of South America's most spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites recently declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Travel via the deluxe Hiram Bingham train from Cusco to Machu Picchu and visit the Inca's breath-taking 'Citadel in the Clouds' ringed by green-clad mountain peaks. Few places can compare as many people believe this is one of the most beautiful and enigmatic sites in the world.

Hinweis: As this is an active program that takes place at high altitudes and we strongly recommend that all guests should consult with their physician regarding their ability to participate prior to signing up. Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    TAG 1

Following disembarkation from the ship, you will be transferred as a group to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to the luxurious Monasterio Hotel.

You will embark on a city tour of Cusco, starting with Sacsayhuaman fortress. Strategically located on a hill overlooking Cusco, the fortress was constructed without mortar like many other Inca structures. Yet the enormous stones (some weighing 200 tons) of the remaining walls fit so tightly that not even a thin blade of grass can slide between them. The craftsmanship is a stunning example of the Inca’s sophisticated construction techniques and architectural skills.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will see the splendid Baroque-style Cusco Cathedral, built in the mid-1500s on the foundations of an Inca palace. Many of the stones used in its construction were looted from the nearby Sacsayhuaman fortress.

Continuing on, your next stop is the sacred site of Koricancha. Here, you will admire the lovely Dominican Convent of Santo Domingo that was built on the foundations of the Temple of the Sun, the most sumptuous temple in the Inca Empire. The curved, mortar-less masonry wall at the west end of the church is considered to be one of the greatest existing examples of Inca stonework.

After the visit of the city and sights, return to the Monasterio Hotel for overnight. Dinner is included at the hotel.

    TAG 2

Following breakfast, you will drive to the train station and board the deluxe Hiram Bingham train, named for the American archaeologist who initiated the excavation of Machu Picchu in 1911. Brunch will be served during the journey, as you take in the spectacular Andean scenery.

Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, you will drive to the ruins of Machu Picchu to explore this famous “Lost City of the Incas.” Constructed as a royal retreat for the Inca emperor Pachacuti in the 1400s, Machu Picchu was abandoned less than 100 years later, its population probably devastated by smallpox. Because the Spanish conquistadors never found this hidden city, Bingham discovered it largely intact.

Architectural highlights include the Temple of the Sun, designed much like the one in Cusco, several other temples, hundreds of terraces, and a mysterious carved stone situated on a raised platform that towers above the plaza. The stone may have been used for astronomical observations, but no one knows for certain. The Inca had no written language, so there is no record of Machu Picchu’s ultimate purpose. Scholars are still striving to uncover clues as to its mysteries.

After visiting Machu Picchu, board the Hiram Bingham Train to begin our journey back to Ollantaytambo Train Station. Dinner will be served on board the train. Upon arrival return to the Monasterio Hotel.

    TAG 3

After flying back to Lima, you will transfer to the Country Club Hotel or similar.

The rest of the day is at leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    TAG 4

Sie genießen Ihr Frühstück im Hotel.

You will be transferred to the airport based on your flight details. If you have a late flight you may wish to book an additional night so as to keep your room longer than the scheduled check out time of 12 noon otherwise luggage can be stored at Reception and guests can continue to use the facilities of the hotel or further explore until your scheduled transfer time.

  • PRE - DISCOVER MACHU PICCHU (DELUXE) 2023-24 CODE: LIMLA2

    TAG 1

After flying into Lima International Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to the elegant Country Club Lima Hotel. This five-star property stands proudly among the grand embassies in the capital’s affluent San Isidro district.

Afterwards, enjoy dinner on your own in the hotel or in one of the nearby restaurants and then retire for the evening in your spacious room.

    TAG 2

Much of the morning is devoted to the flight from Lima to Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire.

After the visit of the city and sights, check into the Monasterio Hotel for overnight. Dinner at the hotel.

    TAG 3

    TAG 4

After flying back to Lima, you will transfer to the port of Callao to embark the ship.

Then, you will visit the Sacsayhuaman fortress.

After the visit of the city and sights, check into the J.W. Marriott El Convento Hotel for overnight. Zeit und Ort für Ihr Abendessen können Sie selbst bestimmen.

HINWEIS: All of the rooms at the J.W. Marriott have an oxygen enriched system to help you acclimate to the altitude. This upgrade service has been included in this package.

    TAG 3

Following breakfast, you drive further into the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”. The route with wonderful landscapes will take you Ollantaytambo Fortress. You will visit the site before heading to the Ollantaytambo station to board the famous Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu. Brunch is served on board.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the Hiram Bingham Train back towards Ollantaytambo. Dinner is served aboard the train. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, you will transfer back to the J.W. Marriott Hotel for the overnight.

    TAG 4

After breakfast, you will visit a rural Andean highland community known as the “Village of Beautiful Flowers” to meet the Quechua-speaking farmers and weavers. Learn of their traditions and how these people live today in the Andean countryside.

Visit their kitchens and see how they prepare their food on wood-fired mud-brick stoves.

The welcoming villagers will offer a demonstration of textile technique and design which is an essential feature of Peruvian life. While sharing their knowledge with us, they will reveal the symbolic meanings encoded into their cloth and styles of dress.

You will also learn about the heart of the Andean agricultural cycle - as vital today as it was in Inca times - as your Quechua hosts show you how they hand-turn the soil on the mountainsides. They will also invite the group to join them in blessing their earth, their animals, and the new-plowed land.

Continue to Hacienda Sarapampa where you will enjoy lunch and a unique cultural experience around traditions associated with corn production practices in an authentic and natural environment.

Following this celebration of profound Andean traditions inherited from the Inca past, return to Cusco. Stop at the Cathedral and Main Square for photos en route to your hotel.

The remainder of the day is at leisure with dinner on your own.

    TAG 5

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Cusco airport for a flight to Lima.

Although it may not rain every day or for even for a few days at a time, there is a significant chance that you will encounter wet weather. Be prepared with appropriate clothing and even an umbrella. Daily temperatures average 18 °C (64 °F), but unlike the dry season, night time temperatures are just a few degrees lower.

    Was Sie mitbringen sollten:

Temperatures will change as altitudes and time of day change, so it’s best to bring shorts as well as long trousers, and clothing we can layer. Kathedralen, Kirchen und andere religiöse Stätten erfordern konservative Kleidung. Both males and females should cover their arms, legs and shoulders.

    • Local standards dictate a neat, clean outfit for dining in restaurants and touring urban areas. Herren: lange Hosen und ein Hemd mit Kragen. Damen: Hosen oder ein Rock mit mindestens Knielänge sowie dezente Oberbekleidung mit maßvollem Ausschnitt. Formale Kleidung ist nicht notwendig.

    • A sweater or lightweight jacket for the cooler evening temperatures common in highland regions.

    • A lightweight (preferably non-plastic) raincoat or poncho; an umbrella.

    • Comfortable walking shoes with low or no heels.

    • Sunglasses (with a strap), sun block and a sunhat as well as insect repellent.

    • Please note that the use of walking sticks is prohibited in Machu Picchu unless they are needed by guests with mobility problems

    Landeswährung:

Peru’s currency is the Nuevo Sol (S/.)

    Stromspannung:

We recommend bringing your own travel adaptor for electronic devices if they do not conform to the above voltage.

    2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

    3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at RSSC at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

    4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

  • POST - MACHU PICCHU & THE SACRED VALLEY - 2025 CODE: LIMLB4

Delve into the sacred and mysterious landmarks of the Inca Empire, including famed Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, and other ancient temples, all important archaeological monuments from the Inca Empire. Also visit the stunning Sacred Valley which is home to several indigenous communities where you will learn of their techniques for survival.

    Special Notes:

This program begins in San Antonio, Chile and ends in Lima, Peru. Departure flights must be booked out of the Lima International Airport. The program includes the international flight from Santiago to Lima. All flight schedules are subject to change up to the time of departure by the airline. Please ensure passport details are added to your booking right away for the purchase of Machu Picchu entry tickets. Please verify the expiry date – passports must be valid for at least six months after travel in order to enter Chile and Peru.

As this is an active program that takes place at high altitudes, we strongly recommend that all guests should consult with their physician regarding their ability to participate prior to signing up. Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    TAG 1

Following disembarkation from the ship in San Antonio, Chile, you will be transferred as a group to the Santiago Airport for a flight to Lima, Peru. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel which is located in the heart of Lima.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Lunch and dinner are on your own perhaps in the hotel or in one of the nearby restaurants.

Hinweis: All luggage will accompany guests on the flight to Lima. See further below for luggage restrictions and fees for excess bags.

This evening, please re-pack your bags accordingly as luggage storage for excess luggage will be available at the hotel in Lima from Day 2 – 5. Any luggage to be left in storage should be properly labelled with your name and suite number on the ship. Don’t forget to take any valuables, medications and documents with you.

    TAG 2

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, embark on a city tour of Cusco.

After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the sacred site of Koricancha. Here, admire the lovely Dominican Convent of Santo Domingo that was built on the foundations of the Temple of the Sun, the most sumptuous temple in the Inca Empire. The curved, mortar-less masonry wall at the west end of the church is one of the greatest existing examples of Inca stonework.

Next, visit Sacsayhuaman fortress.

After visiting the city and sights, check into the J.W. Marriott El Convento Hotel. Zeit und Ort für Ihr Abendessen können Sie selbst bestimmen.

HINWEIS: All of the rooms at the J.W. Marriott have an oxygen enriched system to help you acclimate to the altitude. This upgrade service has been included in this package.

    TAG 3

Following breakfast, drive further into the “Sacred Valley of the Incas” to Ollantaytambo Fortress which you will visit before proceeding to Ollantaytambo station where you will board The First Class Train.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the Hiram Bingham Train back towards Ollantaytambo. Dinner is served aboard the train. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, you will transfer back to your hotel in Cusco for the night.

    TAG 4

After breakfast, you will visit a rural Andean highland community to meet the Quechua-speaking farmers and weavers. Learn of their traditions and how these people live today in the Andean countryside.

The welcoming villagers will offer a demonstration of textile technique and design which is an essential feature of Peruvian life. While sharing their knowledge with us, they will reveal the symbolic meanings encoded into their cloth and styles of dress. Also visit their kitchens and see how they prepare their food on wood-fired mud-brick stoves.

You will also learn about the heart of the Andean agricultural cycle - as vital today as it was in Inca times - as your Quechua hosts show you how they hand-turn the soil on the mountainsides. They will also invite the group to join them in blessing their earth, their animals, and the new-plowed land.

On the way back to Cusco, stop for lunch. Upon returning to Cusco, visit the splendid Baroque-style Cusco Cathedral, built in the mid-1500s on the foundations of an Inca palace. Many of the stones used in its construction were looted from the nearby Sacsayhuaman fortress.

After the visit, you will be return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Dinner is included at the hotel.

    TAG 5

After breakfast and check out, transfer to the Cusco Airport for a flight to Lima.

Return to the same hotel where you stayed on Day 1. Here you will be re-united with any stored luggage.

Meals other than breakfast are on your own today.

    TAG 6

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and check out.

    Check-out ist um 12:00 Uhr.

You will be transferred to the airport based on the flight details provided. If you have a late flight, you may wish to book an additional night to keep your room longer than the scheduled check out time of 12 noon.

  • POST - DISCOVER MACHU PICCHU (STANDARD) 2023-24 CODE: LIMLA3

Delve into the sacred and mysterious landmarks of the Inca Empire including one of South America's most spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites recently declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Travel via the Vistadome train from Cusco to Machu Picchu and visit the Inca's breath-taking 'Citadel in the Clouds' ringed by green-clad mountain peaks.

Upon arrival, transfer to the J.W. Marriott Hotel.

After lunch, you will see the splendid Baroque-style Cusco Cathedral, built in the mid-1500s on the foundations of an Inca palace.

After the visit of the city and sights, return to the J.W.

    TAG 2

Following breakfast, you will drive to the train station and board the Vistadome Train which features large panoramic windows for excellent viewing of the passing landscape. Lunch will be served on board.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the Vistadome Train back towards Cusco. Dinner will be served on board. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, you will transfer back to the J.W. Marriott Hotel for the evening.

    TAG 3

After flying back to Lima, you will transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

  • PRE - LIMA MOSAIC CODE: LIML10

Become immersed in the Peruvian culture, past and present, through historical landmarks, the ruins of a pre-Columbian city, live performances and a demonstration by Peruvian Paso horses.

    TAG 1

After flying into Lima International Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center, where you will spend the next three nights.

Check in time is at 15:00 Uhr. Should you have an early arriving flight, you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is guaranteed to be available when you arrive.

Later in the day, you will enjoy dinner on your own in the hotel or in one of the nearby restaurants before retiring for the evening.

    TAG 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the Larco Herrera Museum, which is housed in an elegant vice-royal colonial mansion from the 18th century. Its exhibits present more than 3.000 years of pre-Columbian history, including the finest collection of gold, silver and semiprecious stone artistry in Peru. You will also see ancient Incan textiles, huaco ceramics and tools used to fashion these timeless treasures.

You will continue on to Lima’s main square, where Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro founded the “City of Kings” in 1535. The Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace and the Lima Cathedral all surround the square. You will visit the cathedral where Pizarro is buried.

Next, you will see the Santo Domingo Convent, the oldest church and convent in Lima. The foundation of Santo Domingo was conceived by Friar Tomas de San Martin, who later served as the Preceptor Prior of the Dominican Order.

Construction began in 1540, and the convent was later renovated to its present neo-classical style in the 18th century. It is a city within a city of sorts, comprised of a succession of cloisters and yards surrounded by service areas and communal rooms. Spanish Saint San Juan Masias is buried in the convent.

You will then savor a spectacular lunch at Casa Garcia Alvarado, an Art Deco mansion in nearby Miraflores, one of Lima’s first residential neighborhoods for the affluent who didn’t want to live downtown. As you dine, you will watch a performance of traditional dances.

Back at the hotel, the remainder of the afternoon will be at your leisure. Dinner will be served at the hotel, accompanied by a live musical performance.

    TAG 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will enjoy a picturesque drive to the outskirts of Lima to explore the ruins of Pachacamac. This large excavated pre-Columbian complex of buildings includes an extraordinary pyramid and temples and a highly sophisticated irrigation and reservoir system. Pachacamac may have been the site of an oracle, as pilgrims visited for centuries.

For a more contemporary look at life in the country, you will visit Hacienda Mamacona, an estate where Peruvian Paso horses are bred. Known for its unique high stepping and comfortable gait, the Peruvian Paso horse has become a symbol for the coastal region of Peru. The horses will display their skills as you learn about their origins and uses over lunch.

Upon returning to the hotel, you will enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    TAG 4

After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the port and board the cruise ship.

  • PRE - MACHU PICHU & THE SACRED VALLEY CODE: RIOL70

Delve into the sacred and mysterious landmarks of the Inca Empire, including famed Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, and other ancient temples, all important archaeological monuments from the Inca Empire. Also visit the stunning Sacred Valley which is home to several indigenous communities where you will learn of their techniques for survival.

    Special Notes:

This program begins in Lima, Peru and ends in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where guests will board the ship. Arriving flights must be booked into the Lima International Airport. The program includes the international flight from Lima to Rio. All flight schedules are subject to change up to the time of departure by the airline. Please ensure passport details are added to your booking right away for the purchase of Machu Picchu entry tickets. Please verify the expiry date – passports must be valid for at least six months after travel in order to enter Brazil and Peru.

    DAY 1 – 14. Januar 2025

After flying into Lima International Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel which is located in the heart of Lima.

Enjoy the day at leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

Should your flight arrive early in the morning you may wish to book an extra night, so your room is ready upon your arrival. Hotel check in time is at 15:00 Uhr. Early check-in cannot be guaranteed, and day rooms must be booked independently.

This evening, please re-pack your bags accordingly as luggage storage for excess luggage will be available at the hotel from Days 2-5. Any luggage to be left in storage should be properly labelled with your name and suite number on the ship. Don’t forget to take any valuables, medications and documents with you.

    DAY 2 – 15. Januar 2025

Continue to the splendid Baroque-style Cusco Cathedral, built in the mid-1500s on the foundations of an Inca palace. Many of the stones used in its construction were looted from the nearby Sacsayhuaman fortress.

Next, visit Sacsayhuaman fortress.

    DAY 3 – 16. Januar 2025

Following breakfast, drive further into the “Sacred Valley of the Incas” to Ollantaytambo Fortress which you will visit before proceeding to Ollantaytambo station where you will board The First Class Train.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the Hiram Bingham Train back towards Ollantaytambo. Dinner is served aboard the train. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, you will transfer back to your hotel in Cusco for the night.

    DAY 4 – 17. Januar 2025

Upon returning to your hotel in Cusco, the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Dinner is included at the hotel.

    DAY 5 – 18. Januar 2025

After breakfast and check out, transfer to the Cusco Airport for a flight to Lima.

Return to the same hotel where you stayed on Day 1. Here you will be re-united with any stored luggage.

Meals other than breakfast are on your own today.

    DAY 6 – 19. Januar 2025

Early this morning check-out and transfer to the Lima Airport for an international flight to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Upon arrival, collect luggage and transfer to the port for Rio where you will board the ship.

Hinweis: All luggage will accompany guests on the flight to Brazil. See further below for luggage restrictions and fees for excess and overweight luggage.

  • PRE - DISCOVER MACHU PICCHU (STANDARD)- 2023-24 CODE: LIMLA1

Delve into the sacred and mysterious landmarks of the Inca Empire including one of South America's most spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites recently declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Travel via the Vistadome train from Cusco to Machu Picchu and visit the Inca's breath-taking 'Citadel in the Clouds' ringed by green-clad mountain peaks.

    TAG 1

After flying into Lima International Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel which is located in the San Isidro district.

The day is at your leisure. Mahlzeiten in eigener Regie.

Check in time at the hotel is at 15:00 Uhr.

    TAG 2

Much of the morning is devoted to the flight from Lima to Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, transfer to the J.W. Marriott Hotel.

After lunch, you will see the splendid Baroque-style Cusco Cathedral, built in the mid-1500s on the foundations of an Inca palace.

After the visit of the city and sights return to your hotel for the evening. Zeit und Ort für Ihr Abendessen können Sie selbst bestimmen.

HINWEIS: All of the rooms at the J.W. Marriott have an oxygen enriched system to help you acclimate to the altitude. This upgrade service has been included in this package.

    TAG 3

Following breakfast, you will drive to the train station and board the Vistadome Train. The train features large panoramic windows for excellent viewing of the passing landscape. Lunch will be served on board.

Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes drive to the ruins of Machu Picchu to explore this famous “Lost City of the Incas.” Constructed as a royal retreat for the Inca emperor Pachacuti in the 1400s, Machu Picchu was abandoned less than 100 years later, its population probably devastated by smallpox.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the Vistadome Train back towards Cusco. Dinner will be served on board. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, you will transfer back to the J.W. Marriott Hotel for the evening.

    TAG 4

After flying back to Lima, you will transfer to the port of Callao to embark the ship.

•Comfortable, casual clothing in natural, "breathable" fabrics.

    •Formal clothing is not necessary.

•A sweater or lightweight jacket for the cooler evening temperatures common in highland regions.

•A lightweight (preferably non-plastic) raincoat or poncho; an umbrella.

•Comfortable walking shoes with low or no heels.

•Sunglasses (with a strap), sun block and a sunhat as well as insect repellent.

•Please note that the use of walking sticks is prohibited in Machu Picchu unless they are needed by guests with mobility issues

Peru’s currency is the Nuevo Sol (S/.)

    Stromspannung:

We recommend bringing your own travel adaptor for electronic devices if they do not conform to the above voltage.

Guests not wishing to travel with all of their luggage might consider contacting “Luggage Forward” www.luggageforward.com. Telefon: 877-231-5131 They can provide the service of shipping luggage from your home to the ship or vice versa. There is an additional fee for this.

This program takes place between Peru and Chile.

A passport that is valid at least 6 months after travel is required.

Passport details will be required to be added to your booking no later than 3 months before travel. Passport details are required for purchase of entry tickets to Machu Picchu. Should we not receive your details in time, there is a risk of tickets selling out and not being available to you. Ticket restrictions are in place by the National site of Machu Picchu and once sold out we are not able to obtain more.

Should you be waiting for new passport details, submit what you have and then provide new details once secured. Bring both passports with you for check in for flights.

Please check with your local embassy for any visa requirements for your nationality for both Chile and Peru.

Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name.
