Disembark from the ship at in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, which was named after a breed of gazelles by a Sheikh of the Bani Yas tribe. It was founded in 1761 on a small peninsula surrounded by a cluster of islands.

Your tour today offers an excellent introduction to Abu Dhabi with your first stop being a visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the first universal museum in the Arab world. This museum both ancient and contemporary works of historical, cultural and sociological interest from around the world. Virtually surrounded by the sea, the dozens of buildings that comprise the museum are linked by waterfront promenades and by the museum’s most arresting feature – its dome. As sunlight filters through the dome’s perforations, it creates a “rain of light” effect in the museum galleries below.

Following your enlightening visit at the museum, you will stop at the magnificent Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi. Following breakfast at the resort, you will explore the desert through a variety of spectacular adventures. The on-site activities team will let you know the times that these desert outings are available and make arrangements for you to participate when it’s most convenient for you.

Sunrise and sunset are the best times to book a guided desert walk through the Rub’ Al Khali, which is nicknamed the Empty Quarter as it is such as spacious sand desert. Along the way, the guide will elaborate on the area’s history, heritage and flora and fauna that have adapted beautifully to the arid conditions. The activity may be tailored to suit different fitness levels. You may also opt for a night walk in the moonlight, an experience often described as mystical. The choice is entirely yours – simply set it up with resort’s activity team.

Another popular activity is watching falcons and Saluki dogs demonstrate their prodigious hunting skills. During the live performance of these iconic Arabian animals, you will hear engaging stories about how the falcons and Saluki are bred, trained and cared for.

Today, lunch and dinner are on your own, allowing you to dine whenever you choose.

Enjoy breakfast at the resort and then the day is yours to explore at your leisure. The resort’s activities team can provide you with a list of other optional activities in which you may wish to participate. Some of the options will be at an additional expense.

Although lunch will be on your own, dinner will be served under the stars at Al Falaj, the resort’s Bedouin-style outdoor restaurant.

Following breakfast at the resort and check-out by at least 12:00 Uhr, you will transfer to the Abu Dhabi International Airport per the flight details provided. For guests with later flights, luggage storage will be available at the resort until your departure.

You will have the opportunity to take a guided desert walk at sunrise or sunset, during which the guide will regale you with stories about desert life. At the end of the walk, traditional Arabic coffee will be served.

You can also watch falcons perform and show their prodigious skills as hunters. Falcons are a cultural symbol of the United Arab Emirates and have long played vital roles in the lives of Bedouins.

After breakfast at the resort, you will meet the guide and proceed to Masdar City, one of the world's most sustainable urban communities. There, you will see a sustainability project and discuss topics related to eco-friendly design, water and energy consumption, livelihood, innovation and sustainability.

You will also experience a ride in a driverless electric car, explore advanced technology and gain an understanding of how the city’s ancient Arab architecture was well-suited to the environment.

Next, you will visit the Emirati home of Um Yousef, a mother who has shared her passion for collecting unique items and cultural artifacts with her husband, Abu Yousef. The collection initially began with Abu gathering antique items from family members, friends and acquaintances. Many of the objects turned out to be rare novelties, and the couple’s vision for a private museum was born.

Through the museum, the couple shares their interest in the Emirati culture and cuisine. After viewing the exhibits, you will retreat to an outdoor tented area and enjoy a home-cooked meal.

Following this enlightening encounter, you will return to the resort. The remainder of the day and evening will be at leisure with dinner on your own.

Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara is located on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi in the world’s largest sand desert – the Empty Quarter. Traverse the Rub’ al Khali by camelback, dine under desert skies or unwind with hammam and desert rose rituals. You will have enough free time to do it all! Your deluxe garden view room has a garden terrace and an uninterrupted desert valley view.

Check in time is at 15:00 Uhr. Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available sooner, this cannot be guaranteed. Should your flight arrive very early in the morning you may wish to book an additional night.

In the evening gather with the group for an Arabic barbeque dinner at Al Falaj. Food is the focus, but the Bedouin style set-up nods to many Arabic traditions. Its an evening you won’t forget!

You will be transferred to the port of Abu Dhabi with a stop at the Louvre en-route - the first universal museum in the Arab world.

This museum brings the Louvre name to Abu Dhabi and presents both ancient and contemporary works of historic, cultural, and sociological interest from around the world. Virtually surrounded by the sea, the dozens of buildings that comprise the museum are linked by waterfront promenades and by the museum’s most arresting feature – its dome. As sunlight filters through the dome’s perforations, it creates a “rain of light” effect in the museum galleries below.

Following your enlightening visit at the museum, proceed to the port where you will embark the ship.

• Die Hotels, die in Ihrem Landprogramm enthalten sind, entsprechen den Hotels in diesem Dokument, falls Sie vor Beginn des Landprogramms keine anderen Informationen erhalten haben.

• Gäste, die nicht wie vereinbart an Tag 1 eines geplanten Landprogramms erscheinen, zählen als „Nicht erschienen“. Ihr Platz im Hotel wird dann freigegeben.

• Sollten Sie Extraübernachtungen über die Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft buchen, holen wir Sie Ihren Flugzeiten entsprechend ab und bringen Sie zum Hotel. Check-in ist um 15:00 Uhr (Änderungen vorbehalten). Mahlzeiten außer dem Frühstück sowie Aktivitäten organisieren Sie bis zum 2. Tag des Programms in Eigenregie.

• Die endgültigen Kreuzfahrtdokumente werden 21 Tage vor Beginn der Kreuzfahrt per E-Mail gesendet. Die Telefonnummer des Betreibers vor Ort finden Sie auf der 1. Seite, sollten Sie den Betreuer für die Abholung nach Ankunft am Flughafen nicht finden. Beachten Sie, dass der Betreuer möglicherweise anderen Gästen hilft und nicht sofort sichtbar ist, wenn Sie den Gepäckabholungs- und Zollbereich verlassen.

• Halten Sie nach einer Person mit einem Schild mit dem Logo der Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft und möglicherweise Ihrem Namen Ausschau. Bitten Sie im Zweifel Mitarbeiter des Flughafens um Hilfe, um zum Treffpunkt für Transfers zu gelangen oder unseren Betreuer zu informieren.

• Abholung und Transfer werden für Gäste organisiert, die am ersten Tag des Landprogramms anreisen oder wenn zusätzliche Übernachtungen über die Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft gebucht werden. Die Abholung erfolgt entsprechend den Flugdaten, die Gäste bitte mindestens 14 Tage vor Beginn der Kreuzfahrt einsenden. Gäste, die vor Beginn der Reise in Eigenregie anreisen, erhalten keinen Transfer.

• Sollten wir Ihre Flugdaten nicht erhalten haben oder sich Ihre Flüge ändern, ohne dass das Destination Services Team an Land darüber informiert wurde, können wir keinen Transfer bereitstellen. Gäste müssen in diesem Fall auf eigene Kosten zum Hotel des Landprogramms reisen. Bitte kontaktieren Sie umgehend die Reservierungsabteilung, sollten sich vor der Abreise Flugdaten ändern.
