View another revered landmark, the Church of Our Lady of Trsat, a charming blend of Gothic and Baroque styles. Ponder this cherished pilgrimage site, thought to be where angels brought the home of the Virgin Mary from Nazareth before moving it to Loreto, Italy. A statue of St. John Paul II stands outside to honor his visit in 2003. Learn that Rijeka means “river” in the bustling city center, bisected by the gentle Rjecina River.
